For several years, Billy Ash has been a regular visitor to Thailand. At first, he wanted Kodi – but after the incident with that yellow-handled kitchen knife, he realised that Cassie was the safer option. She was special. She helped Billy rebuild Tiger Blue.
A year has passed. Billy is back home in Glen Rowan; Cassie is running her hotel in Rambuttri. But now she wants to open a new hotel in Chiang Mai – and would like Billy Ash to come and share it with her.

Although he’s fond of Cassie, Billy thinks she’s far too young and doesn’t see her in his future. But Cassie is interested in Billy – and if he won’t come to Thailand, then she will visit him in Scotland. Billy agrees; times and dates are arranged.
Is there another woman in Billy’s life? Not really. Victoria (his former lover) is supposed to be in Australia – and after what Kodi did to Zakrovinsky, he never wants to see that Thai girl again.

But while he waits for Cassie in Glasgow Airport, Billy is taken by surprise to see Victoria – who is on her way home from Canada. Is her unexpected return become his Chiang Mai get-out clause?

Before Billy can decide which way to turn, he is hit by an even bigger nightmare. To buy her new hotel, Cassie needs to borrow money – and a Chinese financier is willing to help her. But the Chinese banker in a blurry cell-phone photo looks a lot like Kodi…

Is she here to help? Or is she here to use Cassie’s hotel as a one-stop-shop to sell heroin in Chiang Mai?

The Titanic disaster is perhaps hte most famous ship accident of all time. While the Titanic was a symbol of technological advancement, it also became a symbol of human supremacy and produced the superstition that is was unsinkable. The maiden voyage of the Titanic was for many emigrants a safe start to their dream of a new life in America, but the passage was far from safe.

Interest in the Titanic has always been enormous, probably since she left no trace. It increased when the wreck was found in 1985 and the 1997 movie Titanic showed the ship’s downfall. For those who had relatives onboard, the movie became a source of sorrow.

It was also one of the reasons that Pia Lindgren chose to research the Danbom family onboard the Titanic that fatal night in April 1912. Here she tells their family history.

In the late 900s, Tibet and China were experiencing great changes as warring factions fought for political and religious ascendency. Despite being a backwater way station, the little Silk Route trading town of Dunhuang on the edge of the Taklamakan desert served as a repository for a multitude of Buddhist scriptures and commercial papers.
In 1908, a treasure trove of these documents came to the attention of Sir Aurel Stein, the British archeologist, including a copy of the IRK BITIG, a divination book reportedly from the nomadic reaches south of Siberia. It had been forgotten for over 1,000 years and only came to public notice in 2017 through an exhibition at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles.
One of the docents was the great grandson of a Japanese priest who had obtained a copy from Stein’s assistant, which included a secret letter describing a companion divination volume THE BOOK OF AFFLICITIONS, that, when used with the IRK BITIG, provided the locations of the hidden mythical kingdom of Shambhala as well as the location of the writings of the original Sufis.
A group of Black Clad assassins who had chased the divination manuscript across centuries approached the docent, unaware of the companion piece, and the chase was on. The trail leads from Lone Pine, California to Los Angeles to distant monasteries in Ladakh, India and involves an elderly Zen priest and a Buddhist graduate student.

…the untold stroy of the common man

    26th January. 4:21 a. m.

In a crumbling one room house, a young man bends over the light of an oil lamp, writing out a Republic Day speech the government has chosen him to deliver to the vast gathering in the Calcutta Maidan. But he is running out of time. And he must hurry before the country will put him into trial.

Will his words become a hate speech? Or envelop his countrymen with patriotic fervour? He has no answer to the question.

However, whispers have already started making rounds of the Muslim, Hindu and Christian blood screaming in his veins which he has hidden from the people. And the story he will read out of his life will justify his religion.

Written in a chatty style, this novel hits the satirical strings of the reader’s heart, stripping naked – in a bold voice – the weakness and limitations of the country.

    Η Λήδα εκείνο το καλοκαίρι ερωτεύεται, αγαπάει και χάνει την μεγάλη αγάπη στην στροφή του τρένου… Ή μήπως όχι;
